The Definite Link Between Receding Gums And Heart Disease
Studies have shown that there is a definite link between oral health and coronary heart disease. Swollen and inflamed gums are the end result of the known sulphur compounds which are release by bacteria that are found in plaque at the gum line. Bleeding and receding gums can greatly indicate that there is an opening in which bacterium can now enter the bloodstream. In the long run, men with periodontitis were found to be at a 70% increase for developing heart disease. Added to that men suffering from gingivitis, the early stage of advanced gum disease or periodontitis, were at increased rate at about 42%. It is pretty much obvious that having good oral health is one major keys to posses good general health in the future. Receding gums should never be ignored, have your gums and teeth regularly checked by your dentist and strictly observe good oral care habits.
